Short Form Video Goes Meta

Struggling to reach established customers with TikTok? Struggle no more! Meta is expanding its short-form video format by making Facebook Reels available to all users. Previously, Facebook Reels was only available in a few regions; now, all Facebook users will be able to make the short TikTok-like videos.

This expansion also comes with several new features for Reels. Creators will be able to post Reels up to 60 seconds in length. Additionally, users will be able to share publicly posted Reels to their stories, bringing the short-form video to their established platform. Users will also gain remix functionality, which will encourage engagement. Finally, this expansion also allows users to create Reels drafts and adds a new video clipping option, making Reels more robust and flexible for small business owners.

Meta’s expansion of Facebook Reels allows for small businesses to focus all of their marketing efforts on the biggest platform, Facebook. While TikTok continues to face monetization issues despite its huge platform growth, making it difficult for small businesses to gain value from the short-form videos. Facebook Reels’ expansion will allow all users to connect their supplementary marketing and income source—short-form videos—with what remains one of the largest platforms for marketing: Facebook.
