Social Media News: October 2019
Social media is CONSTANTLY changing. So what’s an overworked small business owner or entrepreneur to do?!
Relax! I’ve got you.
Each month I recap the biggest changes in social media so you can stay informed and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. Here are the highlights of what you should know from October 2019:
-Facebook Launches new App Threads: Keeping in touch with friends and customers just got easier with Threads! This new app allows you to share photos, videos, messages, Stories and more with your Instagram close friends list. But this doesn’t replace Instagram Direct, which will also continue to house messages from your close friends. Learn more about it here.
-Facebook Lets Users Start Conversations in Messenger from Stories Ads: Facebook Stories are an important way to advertise your business, and now it just got better! Users can now swipe up on Stories ads with a Send Message call to action to start a conversation with the business in Messenger without ever leaving the app. This is great for converting sales! This feature is now available to businesses with Messenger templates set up in their Facebook Ads accounts, so get some Messenger templates up and going!
-Pinterest Adds Shop the Look Ads: Feature multiple products in a single ad! Tag up to twenty-five items in an image to convert sales quickly. These ads allow you to showcase products in an image, directing customers straight to interact with the products and hopefully buy! Learn more about these ads—rolling out in the US over the coming months—right here.
-LinkedIn Adds Enhanced Targeting Tools: Wish you could reach the right audience more easily? LinkedIn has you covered. With new audience, targeting, and reporting features added to Campaign Manager, LinkedIn ads just got better! Their new tools provide more flexibility so you can reach the right audience, and see enhanced demographics for campaign reporting. Learn more about LinkedIn’s new marketing tools on their blog here.
-Instagram Ads DMs to Desktop: Instagram appears to be adding DMs into the web user interface, making it easier for business owners to communicate with their customers through direct messages. Sliding into DMs just got a whole lot easier! Learn more here.
