Social Media News: July 2019
Social media is CONSTANTLY changing. So what’s an overworked small business owner or entrepreneur to do?!
Relax! I’ve got you.
Each month I recap the biggest changes in social media so you can stay informed and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. Here are the highlights of what you should know from July 2019:
-Is Tik-Tok About to Be the Next Big Thing in Social Media? Okay so I’ll admit I’ve heard of Tik-Tok, but not started using it. However….one billion downloads in less than a year? You bet I’m downloading this app and playing with it. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out what Fast Company has to say about the platform.
-LinkedIn Makes it Easier to Grow Your Business Page - Then Takes the Feature Away: I know. I’m super disappointed about this, too! LinkedIn rolled out a new feature that allowed you to invite your personal LinkedIn connections to like your company page, but after feedback from users, they decided to take it away and make some tweaks to it. I’ll just be over here anxiously awaiting its return…
-Facebook is Removing Sections From Business Pages: Mark this on your calendar - after August 1st, go take a look at your business page and make any necessary changes as Facebook revamps the look of business pages and removes some fields. More on that here.
-Instagram Adds Music Stickers With Lyrics: Have you seen this in action? Super fun! Though I swear I’ve seen about a hundred incarnations with Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” so far…
I want it, I got it, I want it, I got it
You like my hair? Gee, thanks, just bought it
I see it, I like it, I want it, I got it
-New Ways to Target Your Top Fans on Facebook: Did you recently find yourself awarded a “Top Fan” badge? Turns out there’s a good reason for it - and it’s not just because you deserve to be publicly recognized as an uber-fan. Facebook now allows business pages to selectively target just their top fans with organic posts. See more about that here.
-Twitter Tests Desktop Redesign: I’ve seen this in action - the new interface is definitely different, but cleaner and sleeker. I like it. But will it be enough to bring Twitter back to its heyday? Somehow, I doubt it. Check out the new look here.
