Social Media News: June 2020
Social media is CONSTANTLY changing. So what’s an overworked small business owner or entrepreneur to do?!
Relax! I’ve got you.
Each month I recap the biggest changes in social media so you can stay informed and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. Here are the highlights of what you should know from June 2020:
LinkedIn Introduces Virtual Events: LinkedIn is making it easier for companies and professional organizations to host events, by adding tighter integration between LinkedIn Events and LinkedIn Live. These two features are being combined to make it possible for members to create and broadcast live videos within its platform. Learn more about it here.
Instagram Adds Support Small Business Stickers: Instagram continues to add new sticker features! This new one is a “Support Small Business” sticker that lets users tag a business page in their Instagram stories. Like other COVID-19 related stickers, the app will then feature some stories with these stickers in a dedicated story at the top of the users’ feed to mark the rollout. Tag fellow small businesses and encourage your customers to tag you using this sticker to foster a positive community of small businesses! Learn more about it here.
Facebook Makes Online Retail Easy: Online retail is getting easier and easier! Facebook adds Facebook Shops, which allows retailers to upload their product catalogs to their Facebook page or Instagram profile. This feature includes support from other digital retail platforms such as Shopify and BigCommerce. In addition to navigating to these shops from Facebook pages or Instagram profiles, users will also be able to reach them by clicking an ad. Get started with Facebook Shops here.

And a Reminder:
Install Your Facebook Pixel: With people spending so much time on social media, it’s important to optimize your Facebook ads for maximum benefit. Facebook ad campaigns have two popular campaign objectives: traffic and conversions. Using Facebook Pixel, a piece of code that can be installed on your website to track visitor behavior, it’s easier than ever to optimize your Facebook ad campaigns. Facebook Pixel lets you see how your visitors are behaving, so you can determine if you need to garner more visitors (traffic), or convert those visitors into customers (conversions). Learn more with a step-by-step guide for how to retarget Facebook Ad Traffic for Conversions here.
