Social Media News: November 2018
If there's one thing that is constant about social media, it's that it is ever changing. Some of your favorite social media platforms rolled out big changes last month. Here are the highlights of what you should know:
-Instagram Made Quite a Few Changes This Month: First up, Instagram is adding more ways to shop on the platform. Click here to see more about that. Second, Instagram is changing up your profile (again). I’ve already seen some of the new features, have you? Third, Facebook will be providing you with better analytics for your Instagram business profile. This feature is still rolling out, but you can learn more and request access to the beta test here.
-Facebook to Introduce Unsend Feature for Messenger: Ever wish you could unsend a message sent via Facebook messenger? Now you’ll soon be able to, but only if you act quickly - the feature will only be available in the first ten minutes after you send a message.
-LinkedIn Pages Get a New Look: This month LinkedIn gave its business pages a facelift. Click here to learn more about what they’ve done and how you can take advantage of the new features.
-Pinterest Introduces New Ways for Users to Shop: Pinterest’s vision for their Product Pins to make it easier for users to find and buy things. Click here to learn more these changes.
-LinkedIn Tests a Stories Feature: LinkedIn (yes, LinkedIn) is building a stories feature for the platform. It’s launching first with university students in the US.
-Youtube Makes Premieres Available to Everyone: Now all Youtube creators have the ability to invite their fans to watch the premier of your new video together by scheduling when your video will go live. There’s even a live chat functionality that your fans can use.
-Snapchat Introduces Cat Lenses: I don’t really use Snapchat as a consumer anymore or use it in any of my client’s marketing, but I like seeing what they come up…because you know Instagram and Facebook will copy it sooner or later. The latest offering? Lenses…for your cat! Yes, I’m completely serious. Read more about how your favorite feline can get in on the snap action here.
-Twitter Could Get an Edit Button: I for one, would love this. I hate when I make a mistake and I need to delete my tweet and start over. An edit button would make life so much easier!
What do you think of these changes? Which one are you most excited to try out? Let me know in the comments below!
