Social Media News: February 2019
Social media is CONSTANTLY changing. So what’s an overworked small business owner or entrepreneur to do?!
Relax! I’ve got you.
Each month I recap the biggest changes in social media so you can stay informed and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. Here are the highlights of what you should know from February 2019:
-Facebook’s Clear History Tools to Debut Later This Year: Long rumored to be coming, we finally have a date on Facebook’s clear history tool which would allow you to delete some of the data apps and others know about you. Read more here.
-Instagram Adds IGTV Previews to the Newsfeed: If you’ve been using IGTV to market your business, Instagram is now aiming to make IGTV more discoverable by adding short previews to the main feed.
-Facebook Adds the Ability to Respond to Instagram DMs From Facebook: While I’ll admit this has made my notifications for the Facebook business page a little confusing, it IS nice to be able to manage both sets of messages from the same place.
-LinkedIn Launches Live Video: As expected, LinkedIn has stepped into the live video space by adding support for this type of content to their platform. For those of you who have been lovin’ LinkedIn (like me!) this a welcome feature. As of right now, the feature is still invitation-only, but it’s slowly rolling out to everybody.
-LinkedIn Adds More Tools for Pages: Have a company page on LinkedIn? You’ll want to check out these new tools they just added.
-Facebook Makes More Changes to Groups: With Facebook’s recent announcement that they are aiming to shift their platform towards encryption and privacy, it may be time to start a group if you haven’t already! If you already own a group or are thinking of starting one, check out the latest changes the platform just rolled out.
-Instagram is Testing a Donation Sticker for Stories: Oooh I hope this one makes it to the Instagram finals - I have many clients and friends who would LOVE this sticker to become part of the regular IG story tools!
What do you think of these changes? Which one are you most excited to try out? Let me know in the comments below!
