Social Media News: June 2019
Social media is CONSTANTLY changing. So what’s an overworked small business owner or entrepreneur to do?!
Relax! I’ve got you.
Each month I recap the biggest changes in social media so you can stay informed and adjust your marketing strategy accordingly. Here are the highlights of what you should know from June 2019:
-Facebook Changes the Algorithm Yet Again: In May, Facebook announced that they would be re-prioritizing the algorithm to show content from personal accounts and groups over business pages. So in other words, marketing on Facebook as a business just got more expensive.
-Instagram Redesigns the Explore Search Bar: Want to discover great new content and accounts? Instagram has updated the search bar in the Explore tab to show IG TV and shopping content first. You’ll also be able to discover stories through the Explore tab now, too.
-LinkedIn Makes it Easier to Grow Your Business Page: LinkedIn recently rolled out an update that allows you to invite your connections to like your company’s page on LinkedIn, similar to the way you can invite your friends to like Facebook page on Facebook. Very exciting news!!
-Instagram Allows Horizontal Video on IGTV: Perhaps in yet another effort to get people to use IG TV, Instagram will now allow you to upload horizontal videos to your IG TV channel, not just vertical. I recently put a video on Youtube talking about how much I was liking IGTV for businesses - you can bet even more people are going to be using this feature now that they know they can put their longform horizontal videos somewhere on IG!
What do you think of these changes? Which one are you most excited to try out? Let me know in the comments below!
